History

The first Ursuline Academy in the Boston area opened in Charlestown in 1819, but in 1834 the school was burned to the ground by a mob. In 1946, the Ursuline Sisters returned at the request of then-Archbishop Richard Cushing and began anew with a small school on Arlington Street. In 1957, the growing school relocated to its present site.[2]
